Benefits of Bathroom & Shower Wall Panels

Benefits of Bathroom & Shower Wall Panels

Why Choose Bathroom & Shower Wall Panels?

Bathroom and shower wall panels provide a modern alternative to traditional tiling, offering faster installation and significantly fewer joints across the wall surface.

With no grout lines to maintain, panels help reduce the risk of mould build-up in wet areas. The smooth, sealed surface is easy to wipe clean, making them a practical choice for busy bathrooms.

Large-format boards allow quicker coverage compared to individual tiles, helping reduce installation time while delivering a clean, contemporary finish.

Best suited for:

  • Shower enclosures
  • Full bathroom walls
  • Bath surrounds
  • Wet rooms
  • Cloakrooms
  • Utility areas

Getting the right quantity of wall panels is straightforward. Follow the steps below to calculate how many boards you’ll need for your space.

Measure Your Wall

  • Measure the full wall width in metres.
  • Measure the wall height in metres.
  • Panels are commonly supplied in 2.4m or 2.7m lengths, depending on the range.
Choose Panel Width

Choose Panel Width

  • Narrower panels (250–300mm): more traditional look, more joints.
  • Mid widths (500–600mm): balanced look, fewer joints.
  • Wider panels (900–1000mm): faster coverage, fewest joints, often more rigid.
Quick Calculation

Quick Calculation

  • Wall width ÷ panel width = panels needed.
  • Example: 2.4m ÷ 0.6m = 4 panels.
  • Always round up and allow 5–10% extra for offcuts and trimming.

Installation Basics

Installation is straightforward and suitable for both trade professionals and confident DIY installers.

Bathroom and shower panels are typically fitted directly onto prepared walls using adhesive. Panels interlock with tongue-and-groove edges to create a tight, secure joint.

Before installation:

  • Ensure walls are clean, dry and level
  • Remove loose tiles or debris
  • Check surfaces are sound and secure
  • Panels can often be cut to size using standard tools and secured with adhesive and trims for a clean, finished edge.
  • Seal joints and edges correctly in wet areas to maintain full waterproof protection.
Installation Basics

Trims, Adhesives & Sealants

Complete your bathroom panel installation with the correct trims, grab adhesive and sanitary sealant. Using the right accessories ensures a secure fit and a clean, waterproof finish in wet areas.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bathroom Wall Panels

Are bathroom and shower wall panels fully waterproof?

Yes. All of our PVC and Premium Rigid panels are designed for wet areas. When fitted with the correct trims and sanitary sealant, they create a sealed, waterproof surface suitable for showers and bathrooms & wet areas.

What’s the difference between Standard PVC and Premium Rigid panels?

Standard PVC panels are lightweight, hollow-core boards available in a wide range of widths and finishes.

Premium Rigid panels (including Hardex WPC and SPC tile-style panels) are thicker, denser and offer a more substantial feel with more realistic stone and tile finishes.

Can shower panels be installed over existing tiles?

In many cases, yes. Existing tiles must be clean, secure and level. Loose tiles should be removed and uneven surfaces corrected before installation. This saves on money & time.

What sizes do bathroom wall panels come in?

Most panels are supplied in full-height boards (typically around 2.4m–2.7m).

Width options vary by range, from narrower 250mm boards to wide 1000mm panels for faster coverage. Check each products specs tab for full product sizes.

Are shower panels better than tiles?

Wall panels install faster, require no grout and are easier to clean. They provide a seamless, modern finish with fewer joints compared to traditional tiling.

Can PVC panels be cut to size?

Yes. Panels can usually be cut with standard tools and finished neatly using matching trims and profiles.
