Drainage Systems FAQ's

1) What’s the difference between underground drainage, soil pipe and channel drainage?

Underground drainage is used for below-ground foul and surface water runs. Soil pipe is used above ground for waste and ventilation from bathrooms and kitchens. Channel drainage is used at ground level to collect surface water from areas like driveways and patios.

2) How do I choose the right drainage system for my project?

Start with what you’re draining. Surface water from a driveway or patio usually suits channel drainage. Waste from toilets and appliances needs soil pipe and underground drainage runs. If you’re unsure, match the existing pipe type and size, then choose the fittings you need.

3) What fittings do I need to complete a drainage installation?

Most systems require the pipe plus key fittings such as bends, junctions, couplers, adaptors and end caps. For underground runs, you may also need access points for maintenance. For channel drainage, make sure you choose the correct outlet and end pieces for a tidy finish.
